Slumberton was not always referred to as such. No. The original name of the fortress was Goldenglough.
When new arrivals to The Garden would step off of their ships and onto the shore it was pitch black. Only one friendly site was apparent while venturing up the mountain: a set of lights bouncing through the woods.
Like a beacon to fatigued pilgrims, this foothold offered a safe place, on solid ground, for one to rest their head after a long journey.
As The Garden received more people other towns began to form and grow. Residents of Goldenglough were migrating in numbers irreplaceable and the fortress was nearly abandoned, granting its new title of Slumberton.
The name Goldenglough was repurposed for the capitol of The Garden by Superbia. A city which evolved faster than any other due to its rich soil and central location, ideal for controlling trade routes and feeding the masses.
Superbia never forgot his time spent in Slumberton, which is why he honored its original name with his glorious city. Eventually, when men were plenty to spare, Superbia sent his most honored knight to wake the dormant fortress and welcome new arrivals to The Garden once more.
This knight was Industria. She persevered through many hardships with Superbia and continually demonstrates her will to make the land more habitable.
Despite her diligence, the soldiers and their families whom were tasked to accompany her on this quest were anything but enthused. They did not wish to leave the capitol and felt it to be a punishment, rather than an honor.
Though she'd accomplished the resurrection of Slumberton, she failed to establish a consistent supply chain with the capitol and still struggles to secure ships on the shore.
With no guarantee of safe passage to her fortress, traders from the sea have redirected their landings to Meritide Bay.
In order to improve the security of her fief Industria has charged Acedia, her squire, with the management of Slumberton while she tours the land.
