This sandbox indie game will take you through seven different fiefs of one kingdom: The Garden. All of which are plagued with civil unrest.
Take up residence in this medieval world of woe; pick up a blade, or axe, and carve out your claim to fame.
A kingdom, The Garden, teeters on the edge of civil war. Split between the righteous reign of King Humilitas and the growing rebellion of his mother, Dowager Queen Avaritia, the land runs rampant with deceit. Relationships are hardly balanced as blood boils over wealth, title and revenge.
At the heart of the kingdom lies Goldenglough, the prosperous capital and home of The Burning Lily, house of Humilitas. His heir, Patientia, a calm and measured prince, is quietly betrothed to Temperantia, the disciplined daughter of Gula, lord of The Succulent Marigold. Their union is symbolic — a bridge between capitol and coast — but is undermined by Gula’s ill habit of hoarding goods meant for the kingdom and secretly supplying arms to the rebel house of The Alluring Dandelion.
This rebel faction is led by Lady Invidia, whom after being denied reinforcements from The Burning Lily during a devastating raid erected a symbolic stronghold known as Underidge. Her envy of the new alliance between Marigold and Lily curdles into betrayal. Supplying mercenaries and unrest, she aids The Lone Delphinium in overthrowing King Humilitas.
Dowager Queen Avaritia, head of The Lone Delphinium, resentful of her younger son’s rise, withdrew to castle Vandylcourt and declared loyalty to her elder son Ira; She believes in tradition and that he ought to be king due to the order of birth. However, after conceding from the tournament which would have guaranteed his title, Ira festers in the high city of Rabbit Hutch.
Banished there by his brother, he disrupts trade and spreads defamation all while under the guise of an ally to Goldenglough. As ruler of The Callous Chamomile, his merchants lace goods with poison meant for The Burning Lily.
Neighbor to Rabbit Hutch, Slumberton — once the original Goldenglough — is being slowly revived by the tireless knight Industria, Lady of Iron Will and ruler of The Avid Stargazer. Truly loyal to Humilitas, she endures the struggle to reestablish the fortress in his name, seeking support from fiefs near and far while ignorantly relying upon her sluggish squire, Acedia, to manage development in her frequent absence.
Emberdale, the last city of The Garden, sits neutral and independent. Home to The Gilded Rose and ruled by the generous Caritas and his wife, the captivating and calculating Luxuria, this old mining settlement turned mercenary outpost is now a sanctuary for travelers. Within it, Castitas, sister to Caritas, runs a brothel with discipline and care, ensuring protection for those who work within. Though kin to Avaritia, Caritas has rejected her ambition, choosing peace over blood.
Behind the scenes of everything, Humanitas, another loyal knight of The Burning Lily, investigates the shadowy dealings in Meritide Bay. His movements are secret, his purpose clear: to uncover the arms trade that threatens the fragile alliance between Marigold and Lily, despite his heart tugging him toward Lady Invidia, the very rebel he is meant to foil.
